About the center


The Toyama Smart Agriculture Extension Center provides training for farmers and farming group operators to learn machine knowledge and skills in order to improve the efficiency of use of high-performance farm machines and promote smooth mechanization of farming by preventing farming accidents. Also, to promote smart farming technology, which is advancing rapidly, the center offers lectures on smart farming, work demonstrations, simulator-based experience, and training on using smart farming machines and technology in farm management for farmers, agricultural high school students, and agricultural instructors.
The operation of the Smart Agriculture Extension Center is outsourced by Toyama Prefecture 
to the Toyama Prefectural Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Public Corporation.

 1 Farm machine training
 Farm Machine Technician training
The Farm Machine Technician training course is provided in the 1st and 2nd semesters. [1st semester] Students obtain a driver fs license for a large-sized special motor vehicle designed for farming or a towing license for farming purposes.
[2nd semester] Students learn the structure and functions of farm machines and safe operation skills.
 Introductory farm machine training (for women, new farmers, etc.)
Students learn the basic tractor operation and usage techniques.

 Main equipment
Smart farming machines Functions
Robot tractor It can carry out unmanned soil tilling and puddling. Automatic steering is also possible when farmers ride the tractor.
Auto-pilot tractor Automatic steering when farmers ride the tractor.
Robot rice transplanter It can carry out unmanned rice transplantation. It can also automatically adjust the rice seedling alignment in accordance with the farmland size.
Combine with a yield sensor It measures the crop yield, moisture, and palatability while harvesting.
GPS guidance system Using a GPS, it shows a guide on a display, like a car navigation system, according to the width of the work by a tractor or transplanter on the farmland. It can also assist steering when the machine goes straight ahead. Farmers can attach this system to their own tractor or transplanter.
Drone for farming By registering the farmland shape in advance, the drone can autopilot and spray a fluid or granular agent.
Radio controlled lawn mower Even in areas with poor footing, you can safely remove weeds from a distance from the machine.
Automatic irrigation control valve It can automatically feed water into a rice paddy.
